Radio

U mite think I'm crazy.... ok sometimes even I do... but someone had to see it !

I always wanted to catch atleast one of Himesh's movies... Aap ka Saroor came and went... Karzzz released when I was kinda busy.... and then came Radio (this guy doesn't learn?). I really dunno if the movies were hits or flops.. (tho I suppose they flopped, but u never know).

Anyways.. I dint get to see Radio on the big screen coz I chicked out at the last minute and thot it wud be too foolish to spend a great amount to see tat man act (or not) !

The story is about RJ Vivaan (aapka aur sirf aapka ..gosh) who is recently divorced from the skinny gal (dunno her name). He meets miss shehnaaz and she falls in love with him and they start some show on air together. Her family thinks he too loves her, and he plays along for some random reason. Ex-wife realizes she still likes ex-husband. N the story goes on. There are some silly jokes, breaking plates etc etc. And then ex-wife sacrifices her pyaar and lets mr. confused and 'in denial' Vivaan know that he actually does love shehnaaz. and thats how it ends.

I wouldn't say it was a complete waste of time, but well, it wasnt worth much too. I saw it for crazy reasons, but maybe someone else wudn't tolerate it so much. Ha... finally I saw my first Himessss movie :D

P.S. I totally love the 'Piya jaise ladoo' song, except the guys part !

Dining out

We went to Sigree the other day. The last time I went there was for my 21st B'day. So I have very special memories associated with that place.

I had recently read some bad reviews about the place, so I was apprehensive about this dinner. But all my worries were put to rest, coz I had a good experience. I mean, I didn't like the main course too much, and thought the desserts weren't too many.. but overall I wouldn't call it bad.

It was the dinner buffet and was set up outside. I thought it would be really cold, but surprisingly that night the temperature was higher than before, so I was okay (even after wearing a skirt). We got a nice table near the buffet spread and I was all set to eat. There was a slight delay in the service, but I couldn't blame them, they were packed. Thank god we had reserved a table. There were so many starters. First we tried only the non-veg: prawns in some kind of red masala, chicken, fish, mutton tikkis. I totally loved the prawns. They were super delicious. The rest was ok. Then we thought of trying out the veg starters as well: paneer tikka (the softest paneer ever), palak tikkis (amazing), bhindi in mustard, tandoori aloo and mushrooms. Their paneer was really very fresh which made it all the more tasty.

After the starters, I thought of heading directly for the desserts, but there I was disappointed. They had just 4 :( I am used to a huge spread of desserts at a buffet but all they had was - gajar ka kheer (milky kheer with some carrot shreds), malpua, some bengali sweet and strawberry ice-cream. Sad ain't it !! But I still some of each and overdid the ice-cream bit. Then I moved on to the main-course. I was happy I had my full of the starters, coz the main course wasn't great. The usual sabzis, chicken, biryani. Nothing unusual and nice.

What I tried new was the 'Sangria.' It was a nice wine cocktail made of red wine, port wine, vodka, pomegranate juice and grapes. It also had tiny pieces of apple. It was real nice and very different from what I usually have.

P.S. I really find it difficult to understand why people get agitated and angry when there is slow service. Unless I was dying of hunger or the waiter was just lazing around, I would never lose my cool. If you are in a jam packed place, you can't really expect him to do much ya. Anyways... thats that !

Another day in Paradise :)

S and I were just driving along last evening... when I looked up at the sky and wow ! It was b-e-a-u-tiful !!! There were patches of clouds in the blue blue sky and it was so pretty. I just had to take a picture. I remembered that I was carrying my camera (oh thank god) and I begged S to stop 9even tho he wud get late for his class).

He stopped at the side of the road, and was that a good spot ! The tree he stopped under, did wonders to the shots I took. Simply awesome.

Simply no words ! I was so happy with myself :) :) :) !!

Day after Christmas...

Christmas day was really gud ! A welcome change after the events (or lack of that) of the previous night ! I love Christmas, bas !!

I met S's cousin who had come down from UK. Wow, what a talented gal. She sings like a professional and she's just 19 !!! She writes her own songs and composes the music and then sings and plays it on the guitar. Now that's awesome ! Her voice reminded me of Alanis or Dido. Even the songs were just brilliant. One was called 'Ugly' which she wrote for her younger brother when he was getting onto her nerves. The other was 'Stranger,' a kind of love song. The lyrics were just too good and so was her voice. I was just awestruck.

After, we went to shop. I bought a nice casual checked-patchwork skirt ! We then had lunch and dropped them to the bus-stop.

In the evening, we went to S's school church. I had to, had to, had to go to a church. It was Christmas after all ! The entire place was lit up, so pretty. Then, we went out to wish some friends and ended up having dinner at Daiwong ! Yummy street Chinese ! And that was that.

Breaking traditions !

I really don't like to. No, I'm not talking of old traditions, values, and all that. I mean things that I have been doing for a long, long time. (btw anything beyond 2 years is a long time)

I always look forward to Christmas. I just love it. The candles, the lit-up trees, red all around, cold nights, hot coffee, carols...et al. S and I always go for midnight mass at one of the churches. St. Patrick's is the prettiest I've been to. I love the statue of Mother Mary there, where everyone lights he candles. The place looks gorgeous. But I don't mind any church, as long as I get to go to one on Christmas eve.

But this year, I guess its not meant to be. S is busy as some relatives have come down. I am kinda, a bit, just a teeny-weeny bit disappointed. I know he can't really help it. So here I am this Christmas eve, typing away to glory. But I'm gonna make do with all I have...some carols on my laptop and I'll light some candles at home.

I hope I've been good enough for Santa :) I can't remember doing anything too bad ! Lets pray it's all forgotten. Love, luck, peace and hope ! God bless !

Merry Christmas guys, hope Santa is extra good to you :) Have a wonderful time !!

Wake up Siddy

FINALLY ! I saw it !

Its been like 2-3 or maybe more months since this movie released and I missed it totally. I kept postponing plans until the movie left the theatres. So I was left with no option but to wait for the CD to come out, coz I hate to watch movies with bad prints. But, lo and behold, I had totally forgotten about my dear Tata Sky. They had the movie on Showcase (movie on demand). Just pay Rs. 100 and you can watch it as many times for a whole day.

Well, I liked it. I think Ranbir looks too adorably cute as Siddy. He is just fit for the role. I love his t-shirt collection. I love his pictures. But what I loved the most is Konkana's house. I just loved, simply loved the way she does up her tiny apartment. I want ga-ga over the wires with the birds on it. I could so live there. I really wanted to get a place of my own after I saw that.

The movie is about this rich brat who gets everything on a platter till he fails his graduation exams and his dad tells him enough is enough. He moves out and learns to live life on his own, and eventually gets a job as a photographer in a magazine. H then learns a lesson, falls in love and his life is back on track ! I love the way his mom is always trying to please him, she calls him Siddy in such a cute way ~~

I LOVE Ek Taara.. the lady's voice is mind-blowing ! Also like 'wake up Sid' and 'Kya karoo.'
A nice movie, even my dad liked it. One should catch it sooner or latter.

P.S. Ranbir is really gonna make it big. It's the genes yaar !

Wined out ;)

My first wine tasting !

Quite nice I would say ... though it still dint have any major effect on my pallet. I still wouldn't say that I enjoyed it. I just let my dear tongue get a feel of what all was out there. And it responded by, "we're not missing much babe !!"

I tried white wine and rose. Red, I've always liked the least, so I just stayed away from it. There were about 12 counters, I tried one wine from most of them. Some did not have rose wines, so I skipped them altogether. Some I had already tried before, like Château Indage, so dint again !

We went early to skip the crowd, and we did succeed. There were just few people there, mostly oldies. Also, it was quite sunny, glad I was wearing airy clothing. Though, I did wish I had carried along a hat ! Soon the place began to fill up, and youngsters started to come in. I did happen to see some good-lookin men ;) Also, there were some people showing of their great knowledge of wine.. there was a guy (Indian, who made wine in Australia) who just went on and on and on ! Uff ! There was a lovely live band. They played some lovely numbers. The vocalist was real good.

The food counters were ok. We tried a Shawarma roll and some kebabs. Both were average, nothing great. there was a gelato stall, which had 2 flavors made of wine - Merlot and Strawberry & Champagne. Both were goooood ! One of the girls at the stalls was wearing black stockings (god I pitied her.. to wear that in such heat !!!)

There was an art exhibition, I loved some of the paintings. They were so simple, yet so damn beautiful. I was left quite inspired. A 'Cooking with wine' show was to be held, but it got delayed coz the chef had an accident or something. We left coz we couldn't wait any longer in the sun. It was a fun outing though, dad n I, after a long time.

Here are some pics from the festival.

Wine-Tasting

I am not yet a wine lover. I have still to develop the liking for this red/white colored strange liquid which has half the world at its knees.

My sis and dad and almost all the people I know really like wine. I have tried to develop a liking towards it, but somehow I haven't succeeded yet !

So I have decided to go to the Pune Wine-Tasting Festival in Koregaon Park to give it another shot. Maybe out of the 40+ wines, I will find one that I will not detest so much.

Whoever is in town, give it a try. It promises to be a fun affair. For a measly amount of Rs. 350, they provide you with a souvenir wine glass, a booklet on wine and you get to taste (or gulp down, whichever you prefer) all the wine. Food you have to pay for. They have stalls by Silk Route, Kokum etc etc. Its a good deal I think. If you buy passes online before end of day Dec 17th, you get a Rs. 50 discount too :) which I have availed :)

So check out the link above and do come !

A nice spot

I went to the Pune University canteen a few months back. It is a quiet, green place which serves delicious snacks. I love the upma and bread-pakoda there. Also the chai is lovely. Its a great place to be on a rainy day.

I took this pic of one of its little nooks. I really liked the arrangement. S and I have been there often to chat over tea and snacks. I lose track of how much I've eaten and it hardly costs much.

Lunching out

My boss is going home for Christmas :( I will miss her terribly. She is one of the main reasons I come to work. Shes funny, smart and just awesome. Actually, she's the reason I work here.

So she took us out for an early Christmas lunch since she'll be gone by the time it actually comes. We went to The Oakwood hotel - 5 Senses.

She raved about the food here and we all were looking forward to this day. Sadly, the buffet was anything but great. The salads were good, a huge spread. All kinds of meats, veggies, dry-fruits, cheeses, breads etc. But the good part ended there.

Starters were average - fish tikka and veg tempura (I dont like it coz its deep fried). Main course was disappointing. They had only Indian and Chinese. The Chinese greens were good, but while I was serving myself, the heater plate below the container slipped out and I almost burnt myself. They did not even apologize.
Anyways, There was a chicken dish with some weird name and tasted horrible. I heard that the rogan josh was good, but I don't eat mutton so can't say. The dal makhani was awesome. I loved that.
The desserts were a huge let down. It looked like a big spread. They had mousse served in martini glasses, which I really like. It looks so elegant. But... the strawberry was just too sweet. The litchi was ok. The pastries were bad. The peach pie was horrible and cold. I was sad, coz I love this part of the buffet the most. The saving grace was the gulab jamun, which didn't look so good but tasted otherwise. I didnt try the phirni. Ooh.. I almost forgot the Iced tea. It was tasteless.

I think for 4-something bucks a plate, they should have had something continental. Anyways, I wouldn't go there again. Maybe its the dinner buffet thats better, but i'm not taking that chance. There are so many other places to try in Pune.

PAA

What can I say... I liked the movie.

With all the hype created around this movie, I thought it wouldn't be so great, as always happens with hyped movies !
But I still wanted to see it. I liked Cheeni Kum by the same director, so thot I'd give this a try.
I took Dad along, and boy did he have a good time. We were laughing so much during the scene where Vishnu (Auro's friend) is describing his dad !! God that was just too awesome !
The story is about Auro (BigB), who has progeria, and lives with his mother Vidya. He loves school and has many friends. Hes quite smart too. One day this MP comes to his school for an award ceremony and really likes Auro. It turns out that the MP is his dad, who left his mom years ago when she became pregnant. It then goes on to show the bond between the two.
It is not overly dramatic. It is not sad-sad-sad. Instead it is quite hilarious at times. People in the audience were laughing loud, and so was I. Abhishek is looking really good in his white kurta-pyjamas and he has acted well finally. I like him in such understated, cool roles, like in Bluffmaster. He shud do more of this ! Vidya was ok. Sabyasachi has made her look really good. I love his sarees. I like the lil girl too, who keeps chasing Auro and also Vishnu (he was just too funny). The only part I found too filmy was the end, where they takes the mini pheras around the hotel bed. That was a bit too much. Rest was good.
Though I heard many people cried a lot, I didnt (even though i generally do very easily). But I did have a lump in my throat coupla times.

Watch it. Its a nice movie. Well made.

P.S. I also like the "Gum sum gum, gum sum ho kyun ..." song !

Law Abiding Citizen

So I am a Gerald Butler fan. I think he was awesome in 300. He was also hot in 'The Ugly Truth.' I was looking forward to watching this movie, ever since I saw its trailer on apna Youtube.

The movie is about a guy whose family is killed during a robbery but the murderer is not prosecuted due to loop-holes in the legal system. It then jumps to a few years down the line, where this guy is seen avenging the death of his wife and daughter in a terribly brutal manner. He dismembers the main murderer and then goes on to kill each person involved with the trial. His planning is damn good, but the movie failed to impress. Gerald Butler was nothing great, and even Jamie Foxx, who I loved in The Kingdom, did not do much for me.

Over-all its a so-so movie & can be watched only in the times of utter boredom.

I bought these totally awesome grey shoes over the weekend from a shop in Bombay. They are grey pumps and look awesome, feel awesome !
The only problem, they make so much noise when I walk around in the office (cringing) ! Everyone will turn to look who it is .. Uff ! But it doesnt really matter coz I love my shoes and no one can change that :)

Also, I painted my nails dark blue :)

(Thats me and my colleague, celebrating new shoes !!)

Does it always happen?

That you plan for something too much and wait eagerly for that day to come and then somewhere along the way things go off track and then you dread the day more instead?? WIsh it would never come, hope against hope that the plan would just disappear into thin air ! But then it doesn't... that's the silly law by Mr. A** of a Murphy !

Ahaaaaa !!

the call

You are babbling about something. I am just listening to your voice after an era and smiling to myself.
Thank god what you were saying wasn't too important or I would be caught !

Why do u still sound just the same. Life's not fair !

...........

I wanna cry my heart out to an old friend... a lost friend... will I ever find you again ...

You saw through me, as you do now... just see through me. The world around has changed.

Will we cross again? What does fate have in store?

Tears and more !

A good nites sleep is required here ! Adieu !

Can you....

really ever get over the past??? Especially if it had left you down and out??

Is it really so difficult to just grow up and forget things? Does forgiving and forgetting show how mature you are really? Or do flashbacks make you feel as miserable as ever !

Its a vicious circle ! Can I ever get out of it ... in this lifetime??

In my head

Sometimes I'm just so darn confused ! Thoughts are spinning in my head, none make any kind of sense !
It like a washing machine up there, but nothing will come out clean and shiny. It will all be a laundry tangle. Which will take ages to sort.

Ooh I wish life was a little simpler. At least in some aspects.

You know you are unlucky when...

you travel to Bombay, and they play 'Kambakht Ishq' on your way there and 'Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani' on your way back !
Then the cd gets stuck and they put 2012, getting your hopes up, only till you realize, its in HINDI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For heavens sake !

Arghhhhhhhhhh ! God save my soul.

You know what...

Its a totally different and amazing high, when you walk into a place and your favorite song is blasting on the system !

Friday, December 4, 2009

Hmph !

It bothers me when someone borrows something from me and doesn't return it back properly.

Its petty, but this girl at work borrowed my shawl and gave it back all rolled up. I think its basic courtesy to fold it properly and give it back, especially when it was given to you in a nice folded condition !

I mean, come on !!!

That apart, have a super duper weekend !!!

Snow

One Minute Writing:

I have never experienced snow fall. I mean, I have seen snow on the ground, up in trees, on mountain tops everywhere, but I have never actually seen it fall. I can just imagine how beautiful it will be to have tiny snowflakes falling around your head. I might even try keeping my mouth open to try and catch one, like I have seen in some movies.

Oops.. One minute is quite short a time span ! It was over before I knew it !

Off Again...

Going to Bombay has become regular. I went last to last weekend and am going again. And again next week too. I wish this would entitle me to some discount on the bus fare. But I guess there are people who travel far more often than I do. So ya.

Am going to my to-be-sis-in-laws place, who has planned a real fun weekend for me, as I have heard. I plan to have some really good fun and come back refreshed. Next weekend I am off to school for a big reunion with my friends, about 15, some who I am meeting after 5-6 years ! Gosh its gonna be so much fun !

So December is gonna be a fun month it seems :) Yay !! I love the holiday season !

Difficult Times

It's just such a terrible place to be, when someone you love more than anything in the world, is not happy. More so, when there isn't much you can actually do to improve the situation.

The pathetic helplessness that you feel is worse than any other emotion that one can endure. You wanna do so much, but can actually do nothing much. Its as if your hands and feet are tied and you are put in a cell and made to watch, while your heart crumbles into pieces.

Sometimes I wish I was some powerful scion, and I could dictate terms of my own and make life easier for all those I know. But then, I am quickly pulled back into reality.

Why is it that some people always have it tough? while others, no matter how wretched they are, get it all served on a silver, or rather gold, platter?
Ya ya, I know life is unfair. I just wish it wasn't for a person who deserves so much, so much and so much more. Someone who is just, honest, true and a wonderful human being.

Something I really liked

I am totally for mad ideas, creative things, bursts of energy, spontaneity !! Live life king size, or a size even bigger than that ! Just let life hit you and show you all of its colors ! One of my college friends once said to me - Carpe Diem Baby !!! I had no clue about what it meant, but I looked it up and now it sticks with me ! Also, Life is an ice-cream, enjoy it before it melts !
Yay to life, bring it on !

The last few...

I was surprised by how quickly I got over Polyvore. When I first discovered it, I thought I would be addicted to it for months. But, it was not to be. It not as interesting as it was at first ! So I am posting my last few creations.
