Brimming with energy

Ive been busy :) at least slightly busier than I usually am. Okay, lemme put it this way. I have been KEEPING myself busy. Yes. That sounds more like it.

I draw almost everyday now. Am working on something and practicing figures for that. I think it will be a nice watercolor. But I need to practice my human figures before that. The proportion is so damn important. This is the most recent one I did. Not happy, but getting there.

Apart from that, I have also been trying my hand at cooking. Well, baking I'd say. Made my first cheese cake and I must say for a first timer, its not so bad. Very decent. It tastes really good. I just missed the proportion. (looks like thats a problem for me :P ) I need to add more gelatin next time. Its turned out a lil less solid than it shud be. I got good feedback from those who I tested it on. Here's wat it looks like.

As u can see I have nibbled some off it already :) Yes, today was cheesecake breakfast ! Wat a lovely start to the day I say !

Repo Men

Average movie. I was kinda disinterested and hit the forward button at times.

It is a futuristic movie. People who are ill, are given organs and have to pay premiums for them. If they fail to pay on time, the "Repo Men" come in and collect the organ right from their body. Strange concept and I wondered why they weren't any laws or regulations against that. Anyways, so this one Repo guy (Jude Law) is planning on shifting his job and has to do one last act. At this job, he is injured and has to get a replacement heart from himself. He then goes through a lot of trouble and cannot make his own payments. His partner (Forrest Whitaker) is sent in to collect his heart. The story then follows.

I really liked the ending of the movie.Very unexpected twist in the tale. Watch the movie just for that I'll say.

Btw, Repo = repossession, just in case u were wondering.

Very passable movie, I had to watch it coz it was lying on my drive and I wanted to delete it.

Blissful Mondays - 6

What could be more blissful than S being back..... words cannot describe the joy ! And I made this during my training session today ! I've learnt how to utilize my time at work well :)

I use these double colored pencils, so I stick to the combo on the pencil. Next is blue-pink I guess !

Picnicing

Ah. Monday is here and all I can think of is going on a picnic. The weather is just perfect for one. These thoughts have inspired this.

Monsoon sunsets..

..look simply fantastic. This is one of the pics I clicked of yesterday's sunset. The camera wasn't really good so the picture hasn't captured exactly how it looked. It was simply fabulous. So damn pretty. The colors were fantastic. Orange, red, pink, peach, blue and black ! Just "WOW".

Isn't is b-e-a-u-t-iful !!!

B'day gift

I made a small b'day gift - a scrap book - and the cover looks somewhat like this -

I was quite happy with the result. I hope S likes it as much. Its full of pictures and stuff. Had great fun making it last night.

This moment - 4

I missed last weeks moment. I did click beautiful pics of a monsoon sunset but unable to transfer it as its from a DSLR and that memory card doesn't fit into my laptop card reader. Will have to buy one specially for that.

Anyways, the moment for this week. As, S wasnt in town, mom decided to light a lamp for him on his b'day. We sent him our wishes and also cut a cake and stuff. It was so special. Really missed him.

God bless u S. Have a wonderful year ahead.

Creativity strikes again - 2

Another drawing I made sometime during the past weeks.

It dint turn out exactly like I wanted it to. There will be another version of this soon.

Office time creativity

We have so many training sessions going on these days. Most of these, we just have to sit in togive feedback to the trainer, the topics are the same, over and over again. So I usually take my writing pad and a pencil and draw, sketch or doodle. Here is what results -

This last one turned out to actually look like one of the managers in my company. Totally unintentional.

Book-Look 2

In continuation, here is the second book-look. If you read my review, this book is one of my very favorites. Each part of the look derives its place from the book. The house, the person smoking, the ship et al.

Blissful Mondays - 5

Well, I was feeling so lazy to write this post but then I thought I just must write it. So here goes, why was the last week so blissful.

- It rained, it rained n it rained some more. Finally the summers are gone. The weather is beautiful. It rains a little almost everyday. Though it does get a bit damp and gloomy at times, it so much better in every way. I love to see the storm clouds approach, from my office window. It looks simply awesome. We aren't allowed to click pictures in office (damn IT policy). I wish I could really, the most lovely pics would result.

- Got some not so good news, but it has a silver lining to it. So I am very glad.

- My boss let me go home to see a match. Can you beat that ! I just casually mentioned to her how bad it felt to miss the match of a team I support and she was like," U wanna go watch a match, so just GO" I was overjoyed. Didn't take her seriously at first, but then I realized she was not kidding. So I ran home and Argentina scored 4 awesome goals !! I thoroughly enjoyed the match ! Messi was so awesome, even though he didn't score a goal, most of them happened because of him.

So thats it for this week. Hope this week turns out blissful as well !

I'll leave you with this cute image.

Look at the Sky

The sky looks brilliant today. So many fluffy clouds in the blue blue sky ! Just had to take these pictures.

The first pic is facing West. The second one is East. The colors of the sky are so different. It almost looks like two totally different skylines. Beautiful ! The pics are untouched. Somehow the camera couldn't capture the actual beauty of the moment. It was way more beautiful.

I took these during the half-time of the Argentina-Korea match. Thank god I had the time.

Book-Look

I have come up with a new project to keep myself busy. Its called the Book-Look. Well, it aint something extraordinary. I'm just going to create looks based on book covers.

First one up is The God of Small Things which is my current read. Now off to create something suitable.

What kinda drunk?

Haha ! Loved this cartoon. Found it here.

The kinda drunks I hate:
- Weepy (totally no-no, I'd run twenty miles from people who go into a deep depression after drinking, Please don't bore me with how sad your life is, why your bf/gf broke up with u etc. Thanks.)

- Pukey (Gosh, reminds me of college. I understand when ur new to drinking a lot you end up overdoing it and that results in throwing up all over the place. But dude, its NOT ok if thats what ur doing ALL the time. Grow up. Learn to hold ur drink down. I don't want you all over my bathroom/carpet/bed/floor whatever.)

- Sloppy (Same explanation as above. Might end up doing more damage to glasses, bottles, chinaware and anything remotely breakable. Including my foot. Just stay away.)

- Horny (Well, unless ur my Fella, or wanna get beaten up really bad by him, stay away too. I don't wanna be blamed for ur sad demise.)
- Angry (I still haven't met anyone who is angry after a few drinks. Thank god for that.)

Huggy, Happy and Chatty I can deal with. Actually I enjoy chatty and happy. And when I'm with close friends I am usually all three. So You've been given enough warning and now know better.
Don't make me hit you please.

Just curious - What kinda drunk are YOU ??

Fffffound

Came across this lovely pic on this website.
The website is a must visit for some endearing shots.

Stilettos in the Newsroom

So I wrote a review for this website called The Tossed Salad. The site is about all things Pune, eateries, music, events books and movies. I interacted with one of them on twitter and lo and behold, next thing I know, I'm reading this book and writing a review for them.

I could use offensive language in the review coz I had to be professional, but here I don't need to be prim and proper. The book SUCKED. Big time. It was such a waste to read it. I would not recommend it to anyone, not even my enemy, or then maybe I could.

Check out the review here.

P.S. Here's a link to the author's webpage. #facepalm *rolls eyes*

Blissful Mondays - 4

Well, once your back from Goa, things don't really seem blissful in comparison but I'm thankful for each day of the week gone by, coz it was the week before S left for Ranchi. We got to spend 6 whole days together.

So here goes:

- Another enjoyable family get together. To-be in-laws and parents get along well *touch wood* so it was a real fun night. Took so many pictures with S :)

- We danced together on some old Hindi song, I don't even remember which one it was. But we were ball-dancing and everyone was cheering :) Great fun !

- S sang my fav. song, which I proceeded to record on my phone so that I can listen to it anytime when he's gone. It's Maeri by Euphoria. He sings it just too beautifully. It just takes me to another world altogether. Ahhh !

- I made a cute picture book for him... and he simply loved it. It was th perfect send-away gift ! The bright side of him being far away is that I can make cards/write letters etc.

- It finally started raining here in the city and we all went for a nice after-dinner drive. Though we didn't find our destination, the drive was enjoyable. So we did experience the monsoon together. It was fun.

I'll stop here. The more I think about last week, the more I miss him and right now that won't do me any good. SO, I'll just stop and go to bed. *Sigh* two years is a long long time.

This moment - 4

This moment is very special. S left for Ranchi day-before yesterday and it still hasn't totally sunk in that he will be gone for 2 whole years.
The week before he left, we celebrated his 25th birthday, both the families, it was FUN. I got this cake for him and I was boringly gonna write "All the Best" on it but then my mom suggested this. Celebrations Always. I had to coax the guy at the cake-shop to write this as he complained it was too big to get on the cake. He eventually agreed after telling me that he would take out the pieces of pineapple from the cake. I agreed.
I do pray S, that you can celebrate life always. Wish the best for you in the coming two years. You deserve it.

After I put the candles to the cake I realized that it signified so much. The 2-5 represent his age of course. The 2 individually represents the 2 years he will be away studying hard. 5 represents the years we both have known each other. And then I cracked a silly joke that the lone candle at the end signifies that we are ONE ! Don't hit me. It was a special moment and a very memorable one indeed !

Dressy

I am in love with this one shouldered dress by Lina Tipnis. It is so smart and looks so comfortable and breezy. I would love to wear it once I tone my arms and shoulders.

This moment - 3

I love traveling by train. It's the crowds that I like to avoid :) Train journeys are much more fun than flights and since I was a little child, I loved our long train journeys. Dad tells me that I wouldn't sit still and would keep climbing the berths or walking up and down the corridors.

This picture was taken last Sunday when I was in Bombay. Being a Sunday, there was absolutely no rush in the local. Anyways, Churchgate is where the train leaves from so there could really be no rush. It wasn't even so hot :) I kept clicking pics, while those around me thought I was a crazy lady. This train seemed new as it was very clean. It was a nice short journey to Dadar.

LDRs

This has been one of my favorite Vikram Seth poems till date.

All you who sleep tonight
Far from the ones you love,
No hand to left or right
And emptiness above -

Know that you aren't alone
The whole world shares your tears,
Some for two nights or one,
And some for all their years.

It says so much in just 8 lines. Beautiful.

I'm in a melancholic mood right now. S is going to be studying in a far away place for 2 years. I know its a good thing and thank god he is in the same country and all that, but 2 whole years. Wow. I'm gonna miss him terribly. More so, coz we've been in the same city for over a year now and before that he was in Bombay, which is just three hours away. It is gonna take a while to get used to him not being around, not having him to hold my hand and gimme a hug.... those fun evenings (good we did some already)...impromptu dinners...movies..drives. Ah, I will miss u these two years, S !

Then I look to the brighter side and think about all the fun we will have when I visit him. That we can finally make that trip to Calcutta. and maybe to the many places in and around there. The surprise visits :) The excitement. It will be fun. N most of all, its the time after these 2 years get over that I will look forward to most :)

Be safe, S. Work hard and party harder. Very few get to go back to college. Enjoy your time there and great times will follow :)
