So I recently attended my first jazz concert. It was the Pune Jazz Utsav held at Ishanya Mall. I went on Day 2. There were three bands and it was awesome.
The first band that performed was The Mateusz Kolakowski Trio. An interesting performance. As a jazz novice, I tried to understand the various instruments. There was this strange looking Cello, much larger but quite narrow.
The next band was fabulous. It was the Alex Stuart Trio from France. The played a very different kind of Jazz. My friend who accompanied me said that it was punk-jazz or something of that sort. But it was great fun ! I even got the band members to sign my book for me ! And they were very sweet and polite and humble. Alex had a hard time figuring out my name :P
We didn't stay for much of the performance of the last band - Jazzkomplott, had to find a place that would serve dinner so late !
I had a really fun time ! The tickets were for Rs. 200 and we got a bottle of water, a can of mountain dew and a plate of venky's chicken snacks free ! :D what a steal ! The event was well organized and I look forward to attending more of these events !
