The Butterfly Effect 3 - Revelations

I am a fan of the first of this series. I saw it in college, about maybe 4 years back ! Wow.. it took me to figure it out at first. I thought the concept was brilliant, the acting by Ashton Kutcher was great and the story line was just awesome !! I hadn't seen something like this before.

Since the sequels were not made by the same guy and were not connected at all to the first one I dint know what to expect.

I skipped the second and went straight to the third, as that was available. It dint really impress me.

They have tried to take the jumping back concept and put a different story line to it but it doesnt work that well.

It was an 'ok' thriller. It did have me guessing as to who was the killer. I thought the main guy was but then it brought on a surprise.

The movie is kinda gory, not for the faint hearted, with all the chain saw murders n stuff !! Gross would be apt.

I'm now planning to watch the second one. I don't think it will be great too, but I just wanna do all in the series !! More about that in some time...

The Ugly Truth (not so ugly...)

I an a big fan of Katherine Heigl. I know many do not appreciate her much.. but since her Grey's Anatomy days (which happens to be my fav show) I have really liked her. Maybe its just the liking for her character, but i think she's cute, smart and can act well.

I was dying to watch this movie. I din't really like her previous movie "Knocked Up". The story line just dint appeal to me. I could find this flick anywhere even though it had been like 2 weeks since its release. Finally then I did stumble upon a good print (and then it lay on my HD for another 2 weeks before I saw it today!!! ya ya U always want wat you cant have, n once u've got it, it doesn't hold the same charm!! bullshit, I just dint have time!)

The movie is kinda predictable. Man helps woman get another guy n eventually ends up falling in love with her. Blah blah blah.

Gerard Butler is quite the hottie. He acts well and is quite suited for the role. Katherine does her job well. Overall.. a decent weekend flick to catch.

Surprisingly though, all that this guy talks about 'the ugly truth' actually doesn't hold true in our desi land. It may very be apt for the Yanks, but no no, we love our Indian men. The sweet, kind gentlemen that they are(most).

I heard tons n tons about how great this movie is... how brilliantly funny.. an awesome comdey.. etc etc..

I just failed to find even an ounce of fun. I thought it was a total dumbass guy flick. I mean ly a guy could like the crass humor and the stupid jokes and the porn.

I simple could not even conjour up a laugh ! I find it hard to believe that my sister (who is a woman I look up to and respect) liked it! God.. the world is certainly beyond my understanding !

I did NOT like this movie. It was BAD ! Thats about it !

I do not appreciate bad jokes, low-intellect jokes, and an overflow of porn and naked women.. NO-NO !!

Is it just me? Am I getting old? I dont think so.. I hope there are still some sane minded people in the world !

The Proposal

CHICK FLICK !!!! Thats the only thing that comes to my mind when I think about this one..

It was oh so predictable... I just knew what was going to happen .. Hollywood is losing its style, humor and wat not else!!

Sandra Bullock has acted well and so has Ryan Reynolds.

They are quite funny together.. though she looks quite elder to him !

The movie is so-so. If too bored on a weekend. or in the mood for a romantic comedy..it could be a choice !

I'd give it 2 stars.

Love Aaj Kal

Imtiaz Ali's second (oops I just realized its his third!) baby... The first one was a great entertainer.. very well made..

I cant really say the same about this second venture...

My expectations very high depite being warned that the movie isn't great.. I happen to think Deepika is gorgeous !! No matter the accent.. n the long wiry arms n legs ;) ..

The movie moved back n forth between two time zones.. trying to show love now and then...

I could absolutely not relate to Love NOW !! (Deepika & Saif) It was just too far fetched.. the concept of casual dating, sex, break ups...!! I cound't connect to that ultra-cool portrayal of Love !!

Love THEN (Sardar Saif n Giselle) was still better.. very sweet and innocent.. easy to imagine in those days.. Giselle really fitted the bill of the shy punjabi girl.. I cudn't believe shes not Indian!

The songs were really good.. I love Yeh Dooriyan.. Mohit Chauhan has done it again !!!

Dance numbers are peppy !! Especially "Twist" !!

Ok movie.. worth a watch.. I wish he would have tried harder to bring out what he had in mind ! Good luck for next time Imtiaz .. please dont disappoint us :)

PS: Is it just me .. or has bollywood censorship gone with the wind??? KI and LAK both had like a million lip locks!!! I just wondered how??!!!

Kambakht Ishq

Y oh y ??? !!! ???

I saw this one when I happened to return home early from work one day.
It was a sheer waste of time. but since I don't like to leave any movie half way.. I sat thru the whole thing. Wondering why anyone would make such a movie.

Though it wasn't half as bad as Singh is King or Chandni Chowk to China... It wasn't any good either.
The only good part about the movie was Kareena, Kareena and Kareena. and also the Om Mangalam song. Thats about it. All the others were just too irritating to watch. Kirron Kher acted too over the top. Akshay was just untolerable. Rest I won't bother to comment on.

Kareena looked really hot. All her outfits were to die for.. If only we all had that body !!

Friend Amrita tried really hard to make her presence felt by following her elder sister's footsteps ( sheding all clothes).. she really dint make a big impact. She ended up being just a whiny bimbette.

The movie was a one time CD watch in fast fwd .. thats it !!

Status Messages

The first thing I do every morning when I log into my work e-mail is check the new status messages put up by everyone on my chat list. There are a particular few, for whom I wait everyday to update their status. They usually come up with really witty one liners. It doesn't really matter to me if it is taken from another site or if it is original. I am entertained and thats about it.

Today I came across these:

No No I dint visit.. Just the movie :(

After a long time, Dad n I went for a movie, the last being Slumdog!

We went to the newly opened multiplex in Kharadi (God knows why they opened it in the middle of no where!) Its a nice place, huge area (though the parking isn't too well done. When we were leaving there was a slight jam)

It has 5 screens, out of which only 3 have been inaugurated. The hall we sat in (Screen 1) was quite big n spacious. The sound system was as good as any other multiplex.
Since its just started the ticket prices were very cheap. We paid just 60 bucks for an evening show ( Don't faint). Morning show tickets are 40 & 50. Evening 60 & 80. ( takes me back to the good old college days!)

The movie was decent. It has many firsts. First movie in which Katrina has shown a glimpse of her acting skills (which I doubted she had). First movie in which John showed & then went on to surpass his expression showing skills. Neil is decent enough, kinda demure after his Gaddaar look, though. I really loved Katrina's hair color, the red streaks were looking awesome.

A pretty decently made movie. It was terrible to see the kind of torture the 9/11 detainees went through. What justifies that? And then again, what justifies terrorist attacks? Its all a blame game.

The end of the movie though wasn't well directed or scripted. They just dint know what to do. So it was kinda haphazard. But overall, a one-time watch. Nice songs, especially Junoon !!

I would give it 3 stars !
