BRILLIANT !!
There is really no other word to describe it. Vishal Bhardawaj has done it again. He raised our hopes high and delivered ! Very few directors actually live up to their reputation. Like I was slightly let down by Imtiaz Ali's 'Love Aaj Kal.' But Kaminey is a totally different story.
After the whole swine flu scare passed, Kaminey finally released in Pune. I had to wait another week to actually see it. I was getting impatient and irritated (which I get quite easily...yes I know it's not a virtue to brag about!) Then, at last I made it to the movie hall, bought the tickets, took the popcorn and settled down.
The movie was just so perfect. Shahid has created a new mark for himself. He potrayed both roles so well. Amazing. Priyanka also did well. It was nice to see her in this de-glam role. The other 'character actors' as I came to know they are called, also played their part well. All new faces, but class acting.
The plot would sound confusing to many, but the way it has been directed, everything just falls into place at the right time. The confusion itself is so entertaining. It is hilarious at times and also thought provoking. He has picked up many social issues and delicately weaved them into the movie. Corruption, anti-North Indian brigade and many others. He has created a master piece.
And don't even get me started on the music. I was almost dancing in the hall during Dhan ta naaaannnn ..tana na naaa !!!! I actually had to be held down. Sadly they didn't play the slow romantic number by Mohit Chauhan which I love 'Pehli baar mohabbat.' He has sung it so well. I liked 'Fatak' too. And of course the ghatti remix of 'pehli baar..' during the wedding! I just get some kind of kick out of that song.
All and all, a wonderful experience. A must-must-must watch !
