Ishqiya

This too was one of the movies I missed in the theaters. I thought I'd see it on one of my visits to Bombay (if it was still running there) but the trip never happened. So, I then thought I'd wait for the DVD to come out, coz I simply hate, despise, abhor bad-print pirated cds.

Maybe someone up there was listening to these tiny wishes and lo and behold, I won it in a competition. So what if it was a VCD, who cares as long as I get to see it right. So I got all settled one Sunday afternoon. Forced S to watch it with me even though he was sleepy.

The movie is about two thugs, mama and bhanja, who have to repay some guy. They stay over at this widows place and even she gets involved. They make a plan to abduct a rich guy and then it all goes haywire. Vidya Balan has acted pretty well. Arshad Warsi is good and so is Naseeruddin Shah. The plot is pretty engrossing too. But as usual, I found that thegg movie did not live up to the hype. I know people who went ga-ga over it. I liked it. And thats that. Nothing more, nothing less.

There is a scene in the movie where Vidya Balan is singing a song in the morning...strangely the voice just did not suit her. Rekha Bharadwaj has sung it so beautifully but that voice coming outta Vidya's mouth was just not right. The movie has a lot of laughable moments which made it enjoyable. It has a lot of crude language, which S somehow didn't enjoy though I expected him to.

A okay-good movie. Not as good as a VB movie, but decent first effort by Chaubey.
