Procrastination

She found him on the terrace. She just watched him for a while, going over what she had decided to say. She had prepared herself for all kinds of reactions. Nothing was gonna stop her now, it had to be done. She fiddled with her fingers, calmed her nerves and went towards him. Last time, she had changed her mind coz he had just lost his job and he wouldn't have been able to suffer another blow. But, a year had passed, he was doing well now. The time had come.

It was a lovely evening. A slight nip in the air, just the way they liked it. "They"... she needed to stop saying that now. He didn't notice her presence. He seemed to be staring into the vast nothingness before them. She called out his name softly. No reaction. She touched his forearm, and then he stirred. He looked visibly disturbed. Did he already know? There wasn't possible a way he could have known. Her conversations had been limited to her inner demons.

She took a deep breath to steady herself and was about to start when he held her by her arms, pulled her into an embrace and mumbled, " She's gone. She's just gone. Maa left us."

"Oh no...not again,"She thought to herself.
