Singles 2009

A blog I follow has put up its favs. of 2009 and I simply couldnt resist the urge to follow suit. Though I could just copy paste that post here coz our choice is so bloody similar, I wanna make some teeny-weeny alterations, so ya !

1) Iktara - Wake Up Sid: This song is just too soulful for words. Especially the lyrics in the start..O re manva tu to banwara hai, tu hi jaane tu kya sochata hai... Kavita Seth's voice is just mesmerising. Also the male version on the song, which I recently discovered through a friend, is great. Lovely lyrics and super music.

2) Sapno se bhare naina - Luck by Chance: Another super composition. Shankar Mahadevan's voice, dunno who has written the lyrics but has to be someone super talented. And they r so damn true...sapno se bhare nainaaaaa.. to neend hai na chainaaa ! Wow!

3) Dhan te nan - Kaminey: Nothing I say can do justice to this awesome number. I fell in love with it the minute I heard it and it was my ringtone for quite some time ! It has been sung really well, I specially like Vishal Dadlani, wish I can hear him live with Pentagram. Gulzar has written the lyrics, just imagine, a person from his generation coming up with such super stuff totally fit for ours ! Some people have all the talent !

4) Arziyaan - Delhi 6: I always called this one "maula" before I realised it had another name. I play this song when Im driving and automatically I just feel good... great actually ! There is some kinda connection created and I feel so spirited. The part "marammat mukaddar ki kar de maula" is incredible. Another great composition by Rehman with Prasoon Joshi's lyrics ! Has to be a winning combination without a doubt !

5) Oo ri duniya - Gulaal: Not many people I know have watched this movie or heard its songs but u must ! I totally recommend it, specially this one sung by Piyush Mishra, who also acts in the movie. It is a variation of the song from Pyaasa and he has done a wonderful job. The song is haunting and makes you think hard ! The movie was nothing great but the music was a different story altogether.

6) Emotional Atyachaar (Rock version) - Dev D: Im running out of adjectives ya ! wow, super, amazing are already used up ! But this song was brilliant too, wat can I say. The composition is mind blowing and also the video, Abhay Deol totally suited the role, in every which way possible ! A great rock number from Bollywood.

7) Yeh Dooriyan -Love Aaj Kal: Mohit Chauhan does it once again, entrances you and leaves you wanting for more. No matter how many times I play this song on loop, its just not enough. I wish they had played it more during the movie. Its just lovely.

8) Chaandan me - Kailasa: I never said this was a simply bollywood list. Kailash Kher has a magical voice and everyone knows that. This song just reaffirms that. Lyrics, music, voice...all just perfect. I hope he comes out with something even better this year, or would that be wanting too much??

9) Give me some sunshine - 3 Idiots: Its a fresh, young song and I like ! Its a welcome change after all songs with heavy lyrics and music put together. This one is so hummable and anyone can relate to it.

10) Piya jaise Laadu - Radio: Ok dont judge me from the name of the movie. I just like the song. I liked it from the very first day and I think the lady has sung it extremely well. I don like Himesh's intervention but I learned to look beyond that and all was fine. Its a nice bitter-sweet melody !
